Nude is in for Spring/Summer 2011

Personally, black has always been my first choice for a basic everyday bra -- but I think I'm going to be swayed this summer by all the warm golden shades of nude that I've been seeing in stores.

According to a study from across the pond -- conducted by the London retailer, Debenhams -- sales of flesh-colored lingerie has risen by 72% when compared to sales figures the same time last year. The department store sells many brands in a wide range of nude shades like cream, beige, honey, taupe, mocha and chocolate.

Nude does seem to be a practical everyday color choice for lingerie, since you don't need to worry about your bra showing if you decide to wear a light-colored top. "Clever, 'recession-ista' shoppers want lingerie they can wear under anything, rather than purchase different color bras to match tops," Sharon Webb, head of lingerie buying and design at Debenhams, in a press release issued by the company.

Debenhams says that matching lingerie sets are also selling well.

"It symbolizes an end to the "mismatched trend," said Webb. "We're seeing customers buy several sets at a time in varying nude shades, rather than black or white."

U.S. consumers can check out the British designer brands on Debenham's website--and international shipping is not that expensive, but only available for certain brands.

What color bra do you buy most often?
